There are only a couple of weeks to go until
the night of the Silver Masquerade 25th Lesbian Ball and the
buzz around town is that women are planning to come out in droves
to attend this special anniversary celebration of one of the
most enduring lesbian events in New Zealand.
This year’s ball promises to be a great evening to be among friends
and to enjoy a night of celebration. There will be live entertainment,
a live band and a DJ who will entertain you into the small hours.
Dust off the ball gown (if you chose to wear one) and don the
mask for this very special evening. It will be one to remember.

Remember, the ball is not only the fundraiser for the Lesbian Support Organisation but a chance for you to get together with friends for a night to remember.
The Ball is a unique occasion with a history that spans
political changes, fashion trends and shifting social perceptions. Over
the last 25 years lesbians have been at the forefront of law reforms and
social change. The world our community now functions in is vastly different
than it was in 1983 and this difference is reflected by the changing nature
of the Ball – 25 years ago none of us would have imagined holding
a proudly lesbian event in one of the city’s top hotels. So why not come
to the Ball and join us as we celebrate just how far we’ve come and ponder
on what the next 25 years holds.
