COMING OUT GROUPS
LESO coming out groups grew from a belief that women who are in the
process of questioning their sexuality and choices, have a right to
seek support and information in a relaxed, non-judgemental environment.
LESO coming out groups are designed to provide an opportunity for women
to talk, listen, laugh, learn, question and come to the decision
that is the best one for them. The women participating come from
a wide range of ages, backgrounds and life experiences and we find that
this provides a good balance when discussing issues and concerns.
Groups are run on an as needed basis, but generally coincide with the
school terms, and run for 6 – 8 weeks. Meetings are held from 7.30pm – 9.00pm.
There are usually about 6 – 8 participants in a group.
Coming Out Groups will comence in

SOCIAL SUPPORT GROUP FOR LGBT FAMILIES WITH OLDER
CHILDREN
Are you a lesbian, gay, bisexual, or transgender (LGBT)
parent/ caregiver whose outgrown or bypassed play group?
Have your babies and toddlers grown into school kids? Would
you like to expand their - and your - queer community? If so,
you may be interested in joining a new social/support group for
LGBT families with older children (e.g. aged 5 - 17 years).
The purpose of this group is to get queer families together to share
social time, activities and experiences relevant to LGBT families with
older kids. It will provide the opportunity for our children/teenagers
to meet other kids with LGBT parents, and for parents to meet other
parents to share information
and provide social support.
All interested in hooking up with this group (provisionally called,
Auckland Family Pride) contact Sheri Marander.
